Tina asked:
I read about this lady and her husband that had credit scores of about 500 each and they went out and got credit cards and would pay them off as soon as they used them and their scores increased 100 pts after 4 months of doing this. Can someone actually do that? And what are some ways to fix your credit score?

I went to the mortgage company today, and found out that my credit has gone down 100 points in 6 months because of a charge from my college, that I was not even aware of. I was never notified I owed anything to anyone. Is there a way that the 100 points can be put back on my credit if I get this taken care of? I went from having a score of high credit score to a very “bruised” credit score. What can I do?

What are things that can lower your credit score? I heard that if you go shop of cars or furnitures and the stores check your credit that can lower your credit score. Is this true? How many credits are taken off per each credit check? What about cosigning for someone with bad credit? Can that lower my credit score?

How do I obtain my free yearly credit score report from the major credit agencies. I have heard that a law was passed and all agencies were to provide a persons credit report free once a year. I have encountered several websites claiming to be free but there are none that i have yet to come across. I do not have a bank account to paypal any of these credit report sites. How do I find the mojor credit agencies and how do I get my free credit report.

I have accessed my annual free credit report, but it doesn’t include my score. I know the websites exist where you can sign up for a free trial for 30 days, but my brother did that and it was an insane hassle for him to get out of that trial. Took 3 days of being on hold. Where can I go to get my credit score with the least amount of hassle? Or possibly a small one time fee if thats the next best alternative?

I am working on my credit and should have it up enough in a couple of months to buy a new car. What should my goal be to get my score up to before I actually go to the lot and have Honda or GM run my credit? I am wanting to spend about 25,000 after my trade in. My gross pay per month is about 3,000 – 4,000.

When I was in college I racked up a ton of medical, credit card and other bills. I recently checked my credit and even with a TON of old debt my FICO score was at the average range. In the past six months I have been aggressively paying off all the old debts and maintaining all of my current cards at a zero balance trying to get close to a perfect score. I pulled my credit a week ago and saw my score has fallen over 250 points to around 400. Why did the score drop instead of go up and how long will it stay down before it even gets to where it used to be? I have one more old item that I am paying this week then all of my credit will consist of current items. No more old debt.
