I am thinking of buying a home. I would like to work on raising my credit score (currently 682) before I apply for a loan. What is the minimum score to obtain the BEST rate on a loan? How long will it take on average to raise my current score to this number if I practice good credit habits.

I’m almost 22 and am thinking (in the beginning stages of looking, nothing too serious) of buying a house. What kind of credit score do I need to be approved for a mortgage loan? My current score is 695. I’m sure it depends on other things too. I have two credit cards and a car payment. I’m not seriously looking, and I don’t want to add another bill to my budget quite yet.I’m just wondering if that is a good score or not. What else do the mortgage loan officers look at? Thanks

I am getting married and I planned to use one of my rewards credit cards to pay for some of the deposits. We have the money to pay the deposits in full, but wanted to take advantage of the points we would be awarded. I heard if you incur a debt of 30% your available credit, this will lower your credit score. Is that true even if you pay it off during the same billing period and do not carry it over to the next month?

I’ve heard both… my teacher said having a lot of credit cards will lower my score. But I also read that part of your credit score is based on the formula

how much you owe/ total credit , so in that case having more cards would be better. I have 7 cards and I only use 2 of them. Should I cancel my other cards?
