I have been working 3 years to repair a 9-year history of credit problems. My score is now 691 after 3 years of working on it. Does this qualify me for prime rates? How about a lower down payment for a home?

Last month, I learned that my credit score was in the 600s at a medium risk level. This month after opening a second credit card account, my credit score changed to the 700s and the risk level went to “low risk level”. If I want to close my first credit card, will my credit score go back to medium risk?

I’m looking for answers from people that experienced this or know a great deal about credit, no estimates please.

I’m a college student and like many fall into credit card dept and unsecure dept. I try my very best to pay on time but it was difficult to do so. With that to say I don’t really have a good credit score or history. I believe in second chance for everyone. Right now I’m entering a DMP program and try to rebuild my credit score. Please give your best educated opinion, thanks!

I filed for bankruptcy in 2003. I applied to for two credit cards (Orchard Bank & Credit One Bank). I’ve had them since April 2007. I plan on moving back to NYC next year (December 2008) and am aware that most landlords look at your credit history. How long will it take for my credit score to improve with having these two credit cards and making the monthly payments on time?

I plan obtaining a credit card to establish credit then closing the account once I have done so. I’ve heard my credit score will drop a bit from closing it, but will it continue to drop thereafter? I currently have no credit and would like to gain some but do not wish to keep the credit card after I’ve gained said credit.

I do not have a great credit score, but only one Visa card and two others. I know the formulas are secret but does anyone know if this one factor has a predictable effect?

I could just pay it all up front and usually that is probably the best way to go but I have a low score that I am trying to bring up. I have two credit cards and no other open lines of credit.

What is the credit score supposed to be if you wanted to lease a car? Which is the easiest? Im trying to figure it out for ford. Is BMW, Mercedes, Lexus or any of those any easier? Anyone have any ideas?
Well I was denied on a lincoln MKZ for about 30k. My credit was established in 99 it says on there file and that I have a 9500 credit card limit on one of my cards that is actually my mothers and she owes about 4000 on it. Im not sure if this is helping my score or not. My score is at 614 and I thought was about about 640 last year but may be wrong

I just pulled my credit and it showed a collection (1 month old). I contacted the office and the debt was valid. I paid the debt with the understanding that it will be taken off my credit report. How much will this increase my score? Its at 604 right now. I know its not a good score but I am trying. I owe nothing on credit cards and not behind on anything.
I have heard it could go up as much as 60 points. I feel thats hard to believe.

I was pre-approved for a credit card in the mail that I’m interested in applying for.. but I’ve heard that if I go through with the application that it would lower my score. At the moment it’s at around 730. Is there any criteria that decides how much it would be lowered once I apply?
